Alright, the weeks are pretty busy times for me, so there probably wont be any advances on the model until the weekend, but when that time comes i promise to post some more pics. (i'm thinking i'll do the trainer sprite and the gameboy border this weekend)

On other notes:
Thanks to whatever administrator changed the topic title! sorry for the mad vagueness of the prior one.

This isn't as drastic update as i would have hoped, but i underestimated how long it would take to make sprites! that is: forever! anyways, here's a pic of the progress (keep in mind the sprite is going to be extruded, it's just flat right now while i get the shape):
Progress
the gameboy border is totally optional, when i release the model it will be a separate pdf rather than attached to the actual craft (to please people who might not want the border) i think it looks pretty snazzy with the border myself, that was a great idea, sgonzales! keep em comin' everyone!

*Admin Edit*

If your pictures are wider than 600px please post a link only and not the picture, or resize the picture before posting. It stretches the forum if you don't.

WOW! How are you even making the sprites? I don't think they should be that hard to make. This is gonna be so cool! It looks great so far! BTW, what is the Dot matrix thingy on the border?

oh, doesn't it say that on the original gameboy (i have a gameboy color)? if not i'll take it out. the only thing i'm having a hard time with sprites is the proportion... i did it over like 5 times because it didn't look right.

don't apologize, charto! it's not your fault by any extent! that's terribly unfortunate about your things being stolen. i really hope they are returned. (probably just wishful thinking, but nonetheless) (probably the only time i'll use the "mad" smilie) meanie pants hoodlums!

other things:
- thanks for the testbuild offer goldwing
-thanks for the compliments, i really appreciate it!
-oh wait, totally just realized the dot matrix thing is only on the original gameboy, and the red/blue games the screenshot was taken from was on the gameboy color. oopsie :$

Ok, just looked at my old Gameboy color, and there is no "dot matrix" thing. And the "battery" should say, "POWER" and have ))) next to the lighty thing. on the bottom it says GAMEBOY CoLoR and color is in different colors.

yeah i was totally blanking on what gameboy system red/blue came out on. the border in my model is for the original gameboy. (i only have pokemon yellow) Spoiler! "which i just beat! :w00t:" i'll propably make the changes on Tuesday and post the results (since we have school off! yeah!)

Red and Blue came out on the gameboy color, otherwise you couldn't see the shades of red or blue that the respective games were in. And i just googled the gameboy original, and what you have up on the craft now is right, but the Dot matrix lettering must be more centered.

no, red and blue came out for the gameboy. I had the gameboy and i got blue version for it Spoiler! "and beat it!". Keep the gameboy border, its right. you can tell because pokemon red and blue (and yellow, gold, and silver) dont have those bumps on them so they dont fit in the gameboy. as for the red and blue color, I think nintendo somehow made it so that some color came on the gameboy games. The first game boy color pokemon game was crystal.

That is impossible, because the original Gameboy wasn't built to support color of any kind. The games would just appear as if it were in shades of gray, not shades of blue or red, even if nintendo wanted the games to be in color.

Well, unless the images on wikipedia are photoshopped, red and blue did indeed come out for the original game boy. The Game Boy color just changed the palette for original game boy games.

okay, so if this is all true, what border would people prefer? i don't exactly wish to spend more time on it (other than centering the dot matrix thing), but if people would prefer a gameboy color border, i would be completely cool with changing it!

I'd say keep the gameboy border, its more retro that way!

Pokémon Red and Blue came out for the original Game Boy, which did not support color, only grayscale tones. When the Game Boy Color came out, the option of changing the palette was implemented. The data for color was in the cartridge as a palette, but on the original Game Boy, it was grayscale. The first Pokémon game for the Game Boy Color was Pokémon Gold. From the 2nd Generation on, Pokémon games were made in color.

I think you should make several borders. A GB, GBC, and the Pokémon Stadium GB Tower borders would be awesome.

that's a good idea, i want to apeal to everyone. i'll do them if i have the time (i think i will, i just don't want to make any promises i can't keep)One thing though: can you provide an image of the "Pokémon Stadium GB Tower border"? i'm not too sure what that is... i don't have a lot of pokemon knowledge under my belt. i just picked up my first pokemon game last month, after not having anything to do with pokemon stuff since the first grade! oh so much lost time, huh?

Well, here's a pic of the Stadium layout, with the tower in the bottom right. Sorry that I couldn't get a better picture.

I'm pretty sure Christina meant the border when your actually playing the gameboy game.

As I said, best picture I could get. I tried finding out how to load gba saves up to get that border, but I couldn't.

As far as I know, the GB Tower doesn't work on emulators...

 If someone had told me that BEFORE I had tried to screencap the borders, I would have known not to try. I'll see if someone on Youtube has used a capture card to record gameplay from the 64 so I can extract the pics from the video... :hmmz:

Progress
Just wondering because i wasn't sure what to do about this: does anyone think that the blocky area behind the trainer should be black or gray (as apposed to white)? just figured i'd ask what you guys thought, since everyone is so nice and responsive with great ideas!

Also i'm very sorry about the pics, i completely forgot about that rule. thanks for changin em'!
